Andaman Packages

In the Bay of Bengal, 1000 kilometers away from the east coast of India are the Nicobar and Andaman Islands. Geographically closer to South East Asia but belonging to India, they are a relaxed, preserved, almost untouched paradise and a former penal colony. There, beaches are desert, water is transparent, marine life is incredibly diversified and colorful, colonial past intriguing and the remnants of a Stone Age culture mysteriously captivating. If you are planning to visit tribal areas, you will require special permits from the Deputy Commissioner in Port Blair.

By Air: Flying from Chennai, Kolkata or Delhi to Port Blair is relatively quick and easy, but you need to plan your trip and book ahead to make sure you have a seat in high season.
By Sea: Going to the Andamans by boat can be an adventure in itself. There are four to six sailings a month between Port Blair and the mainland. Four boats sail from and to Kolkata once every two weeks in 56 hours and from and to Chennai approximately once a week in high season, the voyage being 60 hours.
Moving Around: Although the main Islands group (South, Middle and North Andaman) is connected by road, with ferry crossings and bridges, getting around the islands can be slow. Bus services run from Port Blair to South and North cities but, even in a taxi, do not expect to cover more than 30 km an hour. A boat is the most convenient and often the only way to reach most islands, in addition to that, the journey is pleasant and from the ferry you will often see flying fish and dolphins. For schedule check the above andaman packages. Since 2003, an inter-island helicopter service is available to Havelock Island and Diglipur once or twice a week. Make your bookings at the Island’s secretariat in Port Blair or choose from the above andaman packages and ask the representative for help. Renting a bike or a scooter is a more adventurous option for going around the cities and reserved for those who are used to a “wild” driving style.
As most civil servants come to Port Blair; the capital, on two years posting from India, be aware permits regulations are subject to sudden changes. If not Indian national, you will get an entry permit on arrival in Andaman Islands: Valid for 30 days but can be extended by 15 days on special permission.
Permits regulations are subject to sudden changes. Better check in advance.
Tribal areas require special permits from the Deputy Commissioner in Port Blair

  • Scuba diving is an exciting experience and the major attraction of the islands. You can swim amongst one of the world’s most fascinating marine life, colorful fishes and amazing corals all around.
