Since then the Garden is also known as the Ipeca Garden, named after the medicinal plant. The practice of growing medicinal plants was discontinued in the year 1970 because it was deemed as not viable. The department then introduced many flowering plants here including different kinds of Orchids. There is a large nursery inside.
